e-newsletter 24: Full Day Learning

[May 18, 2010]

Inside your PCPC e-news you will find:

Ontario Passes Full Day Learning Act

See http://news.ontario.ca/edu/en/2010/04/ontario-passes-full-day-learning-act.html and also this article in the PCPC news section.

The Full Day Learning Act was passed in the Legislature on April 27, 2010. PCPC has attached a PDF entitled Legislative Changes Under Bill 242 (2.8Mb file) which has information that may assist centres with their program planning for the fall of 2010.

If you need help with your strategic planning, PCPC has posted two articles on the www.pcpcontario.org members’ section:

Board Job Descriptions!

The autumn is the time when Boards learn how to work with each other, and by the spring, they will have accomplished many projects that helped the Centre succeed!

Now that spring is here, and summer won’t be far behind bringing with it the end of another school year, it is time to start thinking about the job descriptions for the members of the Board of Directors.

Each out-going Board should review, and where necessary, update their job descriptions so that they leave behind a legacy better than what they received! (If your Board needs assistance updating their job descriptions, please visit the PCPC website member’s section (www.pcpcontario.org) or contact the PCPC office at info@pcpcontario.org.

It is also a great time to invite any member who will be at the Centre next year, to a meeting so that they can observe and see how the Board works and entice them to want to be a part of the elections that may occur soon, in the spring, or at the beginning of the next school year!

Words Cannot Say Enough…

Childcare providers put a lot of love and hard work into their careers, and they’re often rewarded with little hugs and a ‘thank you’ every now and then. As your child spends time with their childcare provider, a special bond begins to form. This person is an additional teacher, friend and trust caregiver. Your child shares many special moments with the childcare provider, and you enjoy the benefits of these relationships on a daily basis.

This year, take some time to show your childcare provider how much you appreciate what they do for your family.

To help you with this, PCPC has posted a variety of prints for sale on our public access website www.pcpcontario.org These “photolithographic” prints are high-quality, with images that are vivid and rich, printed on high-quality paper. With over 30 different prints, one will surely appeal to you. They make a great gift and are perfect for dry-mounting.
